PRESS RELEASE: Applications Now Open for Leadership Gillespie County Class of 2027

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (June 18, 2026) – The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the Leadership Gillespie County (LGC) Class of 2027, a premier leadership development program designed to cultivate informed, engaged, and connected leaders throughout Fredericksburg and Gillespie County.

For more than three decades, Leadership Gillespie County has provided emerging and established leaders with an in-depth look at the businesses, organizations, and institutions that shape the community. Through immersive experiences and meaningful connections, participants gain valuable insight into the people and organizations working together to make Gillespie County a great place to live, work, and do business.

“Participating in Leadership Gillespie County prepared me to serve on City Council,” said Todd Eidson, Owner of Sierra Homes, Fredericksburg City Council member, and Leadership Gillespie County Class of 2018 graduate. “The program taught me about our community, helped me build relationships with other potential leaders, and gave me the chance to practice leadership skills. LGC gave me the confidence to be a true public servant.”

The two-year Chamber-sponsored program begins with a retreat and continues with nine educational sessions during the first year, covering topics including local government, education, healthcare, economic development, agriculture, nonprofit organizations, and more. Participants graduate at the conclusion of the first year before transitioning into an alumni role, where they help recruit future class members, assist with program activities, and serve as mentors and ambassadors for the program.

Leadership Gillespie County is designed to:

  • Expand the network of future leaders in Fredericksburg and Gillespie County.
  • Increase participants' understanding of local businesses, schools, healthcare, government, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Connect participants with community leaders and decision-makers.
  • Foster a deeper understanding of local issues, opportunities, and community needs.
  • Strengthen leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

"Leadership Gillespie County is one of the Chamber's most impactful programs as it invests directly in the future of our community," said Jim Mikula, President/CEO of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce. "Participants leave the program with meaningful relationships, a greater understanding of our community, and the confidence to become more engaged leaders. We encourage anyone looking to grow personally and professionally while making a lasting impact on Gillespie County to apply."
